Provenance turns submitted work into demonstrated understanding: we meet students with their own work and ask them to walk through it, producing reviewable evidence of understanding that faculty can inspect and institutions can trust. It's built by a team that has lived both sides of the problem — the classroom and the codebase.

Founders

Todd Whittaker

Chief Executive Officer

Todd is a computer scientist and longtime academic leader with more than two decades in higher education — teaching, designing curriculum, and chairing computing programs across computer science, information technology, and cybersecurity. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems and has spent his career close to the questions Provenance exists to answer: how students actually demonstrate understanding, and how institutions can trust the evidence behind a grade. That perspective on assessment, academic integrity, and faculty practice shapes the product's direction.

Hasan Abu-Rayyan

Chief Financial Officer & Chief Technology Officer

Hasan is a software engineer focused on cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and distributed systems. He has designed and operated production systems across the cloud, works primarily in Go and modern backend stacks, and holds a degree in computer science alongside multiple cloud architecture and developer certifications. At Provenance he owns the technical architecture and the financial operations that keep the company building.
